Buyers’ market: over-age steers heavily penalised

There is no change to the trade at the beef factories this week, where the prices are at a stable but disappointing level, and strong intakes continue.

It is a disappointment for cattle finishers that the pre-Christmas trade has failed to lift prices.

Many of them looked forward to a seasonal boost in prices, but the December intake has jumped, and lower prices are the result.
