Dairy Focus: Cow condition scoring is an important skill for farmers

Dairy cows can put on or lose condition readily.

Having the correct body condition at important stages of the lactation cycle such as calving, peak yield, service and drying off, is very important for the profitability of the herd.

Ideally, cows should be dried off at condition score (CS) 3-3.25, and maintained in this condition until calving.
