Milk quota no longer a factor in cow feeding

For the first time in decades, every dairy farmer can feed the cows in the most profitable and efficient manner, without the restrictions of the milk quota.

During the quota years, many farmers continued to keep too many cows for their available quota, and this generally resulted in under-feeding and mismanagement on these farms.

Most of the advice on feeding cows in spring is based on the assumption that there is plenty top quality grass available.
