Technology: T-flail machine ideal machine for heavy-duty cuts
According to the company, the standard T-Flail design has proved efficient, reliable and cost effective for most jobs for years.
But heavy-duty cutting has always demanded larger, more powerful machines equipped with heavier, more costly flails.
They believe their new design (including a weight saving cavity shaft) bring exceptional heavy-duty cutting performance from a Power Arm without the need for a bigger, more powerful machine driving heavier flails.
Their new F14 flail also has a larger cutting area, and a wider shank with an ‘anti-wrap’ profile designed to eliminate grass-wrap and improve material flow.
Other design features include improved cutting angle on the leading edge for, a cleaner more consistent cut; double the flail overlap of McConnel’s F10 T-flail; increased mass for greater cutting momentum; and longer leading edge profile to extend working life (together with an integrated protection pad, it reduces the risk of damage when flail and rotor come into contact).
McConnel’s claim users can cut long wet grass with ease Cast from a tried and tested ADI steel, the F14 is designed for a longer lasting cutting life and greater cost-efficiency.
All new McConnel 65hp and larger power arms now come with F 14 T-flails as standard equipment, or their existing Multicut flailheads can be upgraded with the F14.
The new equipment was on show at last week’s Lamma 2015 machinery show in England.
