Cattle supplies continue to flow into factories at a scale last experienced in 2006, strengthening the position of processors to resist farmer demands for higher prices.

Weekly intake at factories are exceeding all expectations for December, with last week’s 37,000 head running at 5,000 higher than the same week last year.

It included about 14,000 steers and 10,500 heifers.
