Anger is growing among the country’s beef farmers over the prices they are being paid for cattle.

The first in a series of regional Irish Farmers Association meetings held in Navan was told that farmer fury was at boiling point over the difficulties they were facing in the industry, which is worth €2bn a year to the economy.

IFA president, Eddie Downey, warned that livestock farmers could not survive with unviable beef prices and severe specification cuts.
