Beef market warning

Teagasc has warned beef farmers planning to produce 18 to 20-month-old bulls that they face the biggest risk, as finishers make their autumn plans.

They should now be speaking to processors to get some reassurance that they will have a market — because many of these bulls will be coming in to for feeding from next month on, say advisers.

“It is difficult to see any significant rise in beef price for much of 2014 given the numbers expected to be finished this year,” Teagasc clients were told in their July advice bulletin.
