Ireland had the highest prices in the EU in 2013 for alcohol and tobacco, at 78% greater than the EU average.

However, Irish prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages exceeded the EU average by only 17% in 2013.

Price levels for food and non-alcoholic beverages in 2013 ranged from 62% of the EU-28 average in Poland, to 140% of the average in Denmark, with Ireland at 117%.
