EU must show reasonable side on land eligibility

Penalties of this level threaten the viability of all farms and will put the worst hit out of business

Recent reports confirm that Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney is to challenge the €180m fine being threatened by the EU Commission on ineligible land overclaims.

This relates to the CAP Single Farm Payment scheme which is 100% funded by Brussels and is a critical part of farm income. However, this misses the key point that the whole process is unjust in the first place.
