Dairy firms pass audits for the Chinese market

Irish dairy exports to China — worth €170m in 2013 — have successfully come through audits for new Chinese food safety regulations which came into force last week.

UK cheese exports to China have, however, been suspended following audit failures during a recent inspection tour by Chinese officials.

Britain and Ireland were among the first 10 countries chosen for inspection over recent weeks. Chinese officials also visited New Zealand and Australia.
