The news that the Irish dairy sector had met the exacting standards set out by the Chinese authorities was welcomed yesterday by the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association.

John Comer, president, said the export clearance was evidence of Ireland’s world-beating levels of technical excellence with its farming and dairy processing sectors. He said the dairy industry is cleared to export to the Chinese market, and grow the value of those exports from their present value of €170m.

This was excellent news, he said, stressing that it is now incumbent upon the industry to follow up on this very positive recognition.
