Teagasc warns forestry owners on dangers of using chainsaws
With Munster lands being cited as the worst hit of the estimated 4,000 to 8,000 hectares of woodlands suffering “windblow damage”, Teagasc is urging landowners to seek expert advice to minimise financial losses and safety risks.
Cork-based Teagasc forestry adviser, John Casey, said: “Extensive damage has occurred to both individual trees on farms and also to forestry plantations. Many landowners are facing into unprecedented numbers of fallen trees and are uncertain as to what their best approach should be.
