Milk processors should increase their January milk price based upon positive global market quotations, said Pat McCormack, ICMSA deputy president and dairy committee chairman.

Citing Dutch returns of 48c per litre for butter/SMP mix and 49.6c per litre for WMP (before processing costs are excluded), he said milk prices could increase. “Market indicators highlight strong demand for dairy products,” he said.

“Increases in the Global Dairy Trade Auction show demand for casein, butter and SMP, while the Dutch dairy quotations reflect a stronger market for dairy products in the EU.
