Coveney outlines plans to promote pigmeat sector at home and abroad

The pigmeat sector is a critically important element of the Irish agri-food industry, according to Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney.

He told the Dáil in a written reply to a question from his predecessor Deputy Brendan Smith that his department and its agencies will continue to work with the industry to explore new market opportunities and develop the sector to its full potential.

Mr Smith had asked him to outline the proposals his department and Bord Bia have for an adequate marketing programme for pigmeat in 2014 and the specific marketing initiatives that are planned.
