Farmers will pay for ‘domestic’ water

Currently, any farm connected to a public water supply is liable for charges as a non-domestic customer, with an allowance for domestic use. The water services (no. 2) bill 2013, currently in preparation, will provide irish water with the power to collect charges from customers in respect of its services. It will also determine free allowances to households for domestic use water; and supports for householders with medical conditions that require high levels of water use as well as for those with affordability issues.
