There is a lot of slurry to be spread this autumn and the best time to do so is after the last grazing. But this might cause trafficability problems on heavy land, where it should be applied earlier, on bare ground.

Spring weather this year restricted slurry plans on most farms, and a higher than normal amount was applied during the summer.

Based on the price of fertiliser, Teagasc puts a value of over €20 per 1000 gallons of good quality slurry, if it is used efficiently.
