Fine autumn brings promise of short winter

It looks like we are getting a settled spell of weather, and thankfully, growth remains good, due to soil temperatures remaining high.

Every farm I have walked in the last week still has a significant amount of grass ahead of cattle. It is important that you get the very best value out of this grass, in order to delay winter housing. This is even more important on farms where fodder for the winter is still tight.
