Farm pond gathering marks United Nations year of water co-operation

A visit to a farm pond will take place in Churchtown, north Cork, tomorrow to mark the United Nations International Year of Water Co-operation and National Heritage week.

The two-hour gathering will start at the Village Square at 2pm and is being organised by Churchtown Historical and Heritage Society.

Noel Linehan, one of the organisers, said wetland plants and wildlife would be on view. Food scientist Brian Milton will give a talk on the importance of these plants and the role they play in improving water quality.
