Beef prices at the factories are continuing to withstand the challenge of strong supplies of cattle, continuing at levels well above the seasonal average.

Despite the supply pattern remaining strong, there are some indications of a slight strengthening in prices paid for cattle this week.

Base prices being quoted for steers are 410-415 cent/kg (146p-148p/lb) in general, but some farmers say they are negotiating up to 420 cent/kg (150p/lb) at the upper end of the trade.
