Many trials have been carried out which show that reducing the plane of nutrition for young cattle in the period before turn out will result in accelerated thrive once they are on grass.

This practice is based on the animals having the ability to consume large amounts of grass when they go outdoors. The aim is to reduce the cost of the weight gain achieved on the animals.
