Finishing slower than normal

Many finishers have commented lately that they don’t seem to be getting the usual performance out of their cattle. Many are putting it down to the variable feed quality available on farm.

This applies to the forage sources and also to concentrates. Forage quality is well below normal, while native cereals did not bushel well at harvest. In addition to this cereals are appearing lower down the labels on many concentrates due to least cost formulations.
