Milk price main ICMSA worry in Glanbia plan

ICMSA president John Comer has said this week’s Glanbia plc/co-op joint venture proposal is complex, and the implications for the farmers concerned are considerable.

He said ICMSA will give the matter the time and concentration it requires, and would be consulting with their members supplying Glanbia. He confirmed that ICMSA had met senior Glanbia management yesterday afternoon and discussed the proposals, with particular reference to concerns regarding the joint venture’s ability to pay a competitive milk price going forward, and the financial structure of the new venture.
