More than half of the landowners who appealed unfavourable decisions by the Department of Agriculture in 2011 achieved some success.

There were 827 appeals. Most were in the Single Farm Payment Scheme (324), REPS (236), Suckler Cow Welfare Scheme (83), and Afforestation Grant Scheme (55).

Appeals Officers accepted the case put forward by the appellant and overturned the penalty in 106 cases.
