The effects of new tighter controls on herds surrounding a farm with a TB breakdown are now being felt.

Confusion reigns over TB figures

About a month ago the lead story on the front page of this paper concerned the decision by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to introduce tighter controls on animal movement in the bovine TB eradication scheme.

Basically, tighter controls mean if your neighbour has a bad outbreak of TB you are also restricted, unless you’ve had a clear test in the previous four months.
