There is no movement on beef prices at the factories this week, with the lowest weekly intake for April for a number of years failing to deliver higher prices for farmers.

Other than where a processor is under pressure to secure a particular type of stock, there is a solid resistance by the sector to farmer demands for any upward movement in prices.

It seems that processors are prepared to continue to weather the lower intake, at least in the short term, rather than concede paying more for stock.
