Land prices are not climbing to the extent that property prices did in the past. The conditions of the market today are entirely different for a start. Furthermore, with the speculators gone from the market, there is no more wild gambling on the short-term outcome of prices or even on the long term.

“The hobby farmer and the speculator are well and truly gone,” says one experienced Cork-based selling agent. This leaves the field, so to speak, completely open to the ones that know the market best – the farmers.
