Looking ahead to 2020

Our Farming section takes on a new look and offers more to readers at an opportune time — when the Food Harvest 2020 strategy aims to boost Irish agri-food exports by 42%, and farmers and the food industry are globally urged to produce 70% extra, in order to feed an expected population of 9bn in 2050.

We hope we can help Irish farmers and the rest of the food industry to achieve their ambitious targets, by letting them know about the new ideas for agricultural production, and the new technology which will play a big role in increasing productivity.

Luckily for Ireland, the Food Harvest 2020 target looks to be within easier reach than the global one.
