The prices quoted for cattle at the factories have stabilised this week.

Farmer resistance has restricted the processors’ moves to cut prices. The farmers have been aided by the continuing tight supply, which keeps pressure on processors to secure sufficient stock.

Quoted base prices for steers this week continued to range from 390 to 395 cent/kg (139p-141p/lb), with prices for heifers quoted at 10 cent/kg over the steer prices.
