Total bacterial count problem at the moment

HIGH total bacterial count (TBC) problems can occur at this time of year.

Ideally, milk should have a TBC of less than 1,000 per ml leaving the cow; less than 3,000 leaving the milking machine; and less than 5,000 in the bulk tank.

After storage for three days at two degrees, the milk TBC will be about 15,000.
