AUTUMN cereal crops have established well, putting growers on course for another year of high yields, according to Teagasc.

Advisers estimate that the winter wheat area is up 10%, at 85,000 hectares.

The winter barley area has continued to rise, estimated at close to 45,000 hectares, with an increasing share of winter drillings on traditional spring barley farms.
