Septic tank research project offers rural dwellers chance for a free upgraded system

The Government is putting in place a system of inspection, monitoring and licensing of septic tanks, in response to a European Court of Justice ruling on domestic waste disposal in the countryside.

Donata is looking for suitable sites for a research project on septic tanks, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency. The aim is to find solutions for single-household, on-site waste water in areas where conventional septic tanks may not be the most appropriate form of treatment.
