Grains escape downturn

GRAINS and oilseeds were among the few commodities to escape the worst of the past week’s disastrous trends for investors.

Early this week rapeseed was the only farm commodity which suffered a significant price fall on futures markets, due to its role as an energy source, which pegs its price to the oil prices which fell to their lowest level since September.

Otherwise, global grain price trends have followed supply and demand trends.
