IRISH beef heifer prices moved above the EU-27 average in May, thanks to a 20c/kg price rise since April.

With EU prices rising only 2.4c on average, Irish heifer prices were the sixth highest in early May, of 17 beef producing member states.

Official farm gate price reports for May 8 showed EU prices averaging 349.2c, ranging from 240.7c in Lithuania to 412.2c in Greece. Irish prices were at 354.4c.
