DESPITE regulations, farm inspections, and high-level publicity campaigns, farm accidents rose significantly last year.

Twenty five people died, compared with 11 the previous year. There are thousands of serious accidents on farms every year.

Machinery is a major contributor to accidents, which probably explains why May and June are the worst months for accidents, because there is a lot of machinery activity.
