New AEOS lasts until end of 2013

THE 2011 agri-environment options scheme (AEOS) will be open for applications until May 16.

The contract period will be five years, but the terms and conditions and payment rates will apply until the end of 2013, after which participants can terminate the contract without penalty, or opt to join whatever new EU scheme may be introduced.

Funding of €25 million per annum offers payment of up to €4,000 per annum per farmer.
