UNFORTUNATELY, some farmers are very seriously over quota, and if Ireland’s quota and their co-op’s quota are exceeded the best they can hope for is to reduce their liability to super levy.

Farmers who are seriously over quota should keep in close contact with their co-op and consider the following practices:

* Sell surplus cows and feed the maximum amount of whole milk to calves and other stock, while staying on guard against health problems.
