Gut damage stunts animal performance

CALF diseases cause major losses on many farms. About 60,000 calves die annually in the first three weeks of life.

These losses are mainly due to infectious diseases such as E coli, Rotavirus, coronavirus, and salmonella.

According to veterinary sources, the biggest losses are not the deaths but gut damage which stunts growth and reduces performance.
