THE beef trade remains steady at the factories this week, with a further slight increase in the intake.

Resistance on both sides of the trade has strengthened, with farmers and processors showing equal determination to hold their own and refuse to budge on prices.

While farmers are refusing to sell cattle for a cent less than the current benchmark, the processors have equally tightened on conceding a single cent more than absolutely necessary to maintain the inward flow of cattle at a sufficient level to supply the markets.
