Processors to stay open 2 to 4 days next week

THERE is an excellent trade for good quality heifers this week at factories where supplies are tight.

Most processors have planned to slaughter four days this week, and are under some pressure to get a sufficient cattle supply to justify the four days, because difficult road conditions are again affecting their intake.

Due to strong demand, heifer prices have edged ahead of steer prices, with the prices being paid for both categories ending the year on a high.
