Landowners incur 5,400 penalty points

REPS participants have incurred 3,145 penalties in respect of breaches such as non-compliance with commitments in their REPS plan, over-declaration of areas claimed for payment, and late submission of payment application. There have been reductions in payments under one or more of the single payment, disadvantaged areas, grassland sheep, and rural environment protection schemes for 843 applicants in 2010 because of land area over-declaration.

To date, 1,044 penalties have also been imposed under the cross compliance regime, mostly related to non-compliance with animal identification and registration regulations, and good agricultural practice regulations (nitrates).
