THE 2020 committee predicts a 50% increase in Irish milk production by 2020.

This level of increase will not have a significant effect on world market price. But our processing industry is barely able to cope with our present level of production, and will have to vastly increase capacity, while rationalising and focusing on producing more added-value, high-priced products.

The 2020 committee estimated it will cost €400 million to provide new processing facilities.
