Milk production near quota level

MILK production will be near the permitted quota level if late season production runs ahead of normal, according to Teagasc experts.

Milk production near quota level

Deliveries in the early months of the 2010/11 quota year were on a par with the corresponding months of 2009/10, but June 2010 deliveries were almost 11% ahead of June 2009 levels. If July and August production also exceed 2009 levels, it seems likely that total production in 2010 will be up by at least 6% up on 2009 (when milk deliveries were about 8% under quota).

Barring superlevy penalties, gross output values on Irish dairy farms will be up by at least 25% per litre in 2010, relative to 2009.
