Beef intake dipped under 30,000 again last week
Cattle supplies are tightening and prices are hardening, as farmers bargain harder and put processors under pressure to get sufficient supply for markets which continue relatively stable.
After a long run of cattle supplies which kept the weekly intake above 30,000 head, the tide has turned. For the second consecutive week, the intake slipped below the benchmark 30,000 head, last week. The kill was back to an estimated 28,500 head, a drop of around 1,000 head from the previous week.
