Showing cattle won’t affect suckler payment

TEMPORARY cattle movements to agricultural shows, or suckler cow welfare scheme live animal displays, will not result in the loss of suckler welfare scheme payments, according to Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith.

The movement from and back to the holding must be recorded on the Department’s Animal Identification and Movement System, and must take place on the same day, he told the Dáil. The minister was responding to a Dáil question on the movement of animals from Deputy Michael Creed, Fine Gael.
