No change in suckler scheme a relief for farmers

FARMERS were relieved to hear of no budget change in the Suckler Cow Welfare Scheme Payment, staying at €40 per head for 2010, and disadvantaged area payments staying at €220 million.

Minister Brendan Smith also confirmed that the temporarily suspended organic farming scheme will re-open on January 1, 2010.

Provision for horticulture is maintained at €4m in 2010.
