Rankings unchanged in new suckler beef values

SUCKLER beef values for all breeds dropped by €60 on average in the latest ICBF evaluations.

Rankings unchanged in new suckler beef values

However the rankings did not change.

The big drop in values started when ICBF received cattle movement data from the Department of Agriculture, allowing evaluators to more accurately determine the contemporary group from which each animal was slaughtered. This also explains breed evaluation changes such as Charolais and Belgian Blue breeds losing up to €90 in proofs, whereas breeds such as Angus and Hereford lost only €20 to €30.
