OVERDUE improvement in hogget prices has continued, with further gains in the trade this week.

After opening very close to the psychological barrier of 400 cents/kg on Monday, there was a slight slippage in the base price for hoggets Tuesday. But the market remained firm, and the trade steady.

Factory prices had opened Monday ranging from 395 to 385 cents/kg (141p to 137p/lb) and eased by 5 cents/kg (2p/lb) on Tuesday, with slightly fewer plants seeking supplies.
