LAMB prices continue to follow the stock market down, with between six and 10 cents/kg wiped off prices in the past week.

The base prices at plants slipped, to a range of 340 to 345 cents/kg (121p to 123p/lb), and in the marts, there was a quieter trade all-round for the lambs at the opening sales this week, with prices easing by as much as €4 per head.

There was a smaller sale of 450 head at Corrin Mart, Fermoy on Monday, where the trade was stiffer. Butchers’ lambs sold for €77 to €92 per head, equivalent to €26 to €39 over. The factory lots ranged from €52 to €77 per head, or €13 to 31 over.
