Water pollution progress

SERIOUS pollution in rivers and streams has reduced further, to only 0.5% of surveyed channel length, its lowest level in recent decades.

There has also been a marked reduction in the number of fish kills recorded.

Levels of potentially dangerous substances in rivers are generally insignificant, and about 92% of lake water is satisfactory.
