Unexpected market pressure surprises cattle farmers
Prices similar to last week continue to be paid by most processors, but any prospect of an increase in this week’s market climate has been ruled out by the processors.
Some — particularly those who had been paying at the higher end of the price league — have reduced prices quoted to farmers by as much as 6 cents/kg (2p/lb) across the grades, and others are warning of the same outlook, claiming weaker markets for beef as the reason for the reversal in the recent price trend.
